Insurance headaches

Whats the story with insurance brokers and why don't they want my business?

I find it completely incomprehensible. I reckon that as insurance risks go, I'm a pretty good one! Should be easy-money for them!

So why then will they not phone me back?

Over the last 2 weeks I've contacted my current broker SEVERAL TIMES. Promises are made, but never kept. So far I've not received a single call back from them. So I started shopping around...

As a first attempt I filled out requests for quotations on 2 other well-known brokers' websites. No response.

So I phoned a broker who supposedly specialises in insurance for graduate professionals. They informed me that they had switchboard problems (using a friendly voice recording - in Afrikaans nogal!). They did however promise to phone me back. Which they did, 5 minutes later! REALLY IMPRESSIVE STUFF! In this world of bad service, I was SOLD right there and then! I proceeded to give them my whole life history (or so it felt), and they promised to phone me back with the quote. WOW!

If only they did actually phone me back...

So I tried another broker who came highly recommended. But I only kept getting a CallAnswer voicemail recording - guess they're so highly recommended that they can't keep up with all the business :)

So today I phoned yet another - this time one who contacted me (unsolicited) a few months ago. That would ordinarily be an unforgivable sin, but since I'm desperate, and the lady who called me was extremely friendly and never tried to force-sell anything to me, I thought that they might be eager to help.

So far so good! Good & friendly service - promised to send me 2 quotations by tomorrow morning. So lets see if I hear from them again!
