Stean 1 - Nokia 0

Ha! I think I just managed a "first" for a Nokia! I managed to break one... Without dropping it... And no, I wasn't trying...

(So I guess the subject could also read Nokia 1 - Stean 0, depending which way you look at...)

Basically, I was trying to get the Nokia Firmware Updater software to work.
So I plugged in my phone. Raait!
PC picked it up, synced, etc. Then I wanted to unplug & back it up to memory card.
So, I plugged out the cable from the pop-port.
Or thats what I THOUGHT I was doing. Instead, it appears that I managed to plug the pop-port out of the phone...

So there I had a 6630 with a nice gaping hole at the bottom, and a pop-port connector that was still magically connected to the end of my USB cable...

Needless to say, I'm slightly p'ed off. Not because the thing broke (I kinda expected that cause that pop-port is a stupid design in the first place), but rather because when I go and find the invoice, I'm probably going to find that my warranty ran out a month ago. GRRRrrrrr....

But get this - the port isn't even screwed onto the PCB or anything - just soldered on! Did they really expect a port to stay stuck if only solder was keeping it attached? I'm amazed that I can't find any reference to similar problems on the net - guess I haven't looked far enough yet.

Wish my luck when faced with the Nokia repair center tomorrow! And please let them be quick - my spare phone is the Alcatel One-Touch-HandsFree :-(
